Presidential Volunteer Service Award presented to Dedicated Legal Expert

Mr. Phil Chung, Attorney at Law at Chung & Press, P.C. honored at the 2018 KoBE/USIDC Member Apperciation Night



KoBE and USIDC hosted its 2018 Member Appreciation Night to celebrate the year’s achievements with their members who have been a driving force of the two organization’s success. The Night's highlight was the USIDC's first ever Presidential Volunteer Service Award presentation to one of it members, Mr. Phil Chung.


Thanks to its contribution to economic development and public education as a 501c(3) non-profit and non-partisan organization approved by IRS, U.S. International Development Center (USIDC) is officially registered under the Presidential Volunteer Service Award program. Accordingly, USIDC is able to choose a few highly-committed members and present the Award to them.




The President's Volunteer Service Award is "a civil award bestowed by the President of the United States. Established by executive order by George W. Bush, the award was established to honor volunteers that give hundreds of hours per year helping others... The Call to Service Award is the most prestigious... and Awardees may receive a personalized certificate, a medallion, and/or a congratulatory letter from the [current] President."


USIDC selected Mr. Phil Chung, Attorney at Law at Chung & Press, P.C. as the 2018 Gold Level Award recipient. USIDC honored hundreds of hours of his commitment to USIDC, its members and partners, and Korean American communities for many years with his legal expertise.


Mr. Chung has been a partner with Chung & Press, P.C. since its formation in 1993. Mr. Chung’s law practice focuses on legal issues involving real estate, construction, business and bankruptcy law, which includes counseling clients in business and contractual matters, commercial real estate and leasing transactions, and the formation of new business entities. Mr. Chung has handled numerous transactions involving the sale or acquisition of businesses, and commercial real estate. Mr. Chung received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, and his law degree from The George Washington University National Law Center. Mr. Chung is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as various federal courts.


The Appreciation Night was concluded with networking among members and thank you and closing remarks by KoBE President and USIDC Chair Mr. Matthew Lee.
